Rainy days can be a drag for many people. It’s even harder if you have kids. Unless you don’t mind the extra cleaning that comes with allowing your kids to romp through the mud, rainy days will typically mean a day indoors. But what exactly is there to do when you’re stuck inside all day?
We have the answer: movies. There’s nothing better than snuggling on the couch to watch an entertaining rainy day movie. If you’re exhausted and in need of some downtime, then here are several kid-friendly movies that will keep your little ones entertained while you sit back and take a breather.
Toy Story
Not just the first Toy Story, but all four of them. Not only will these movies keep your kids occupied for hours on end, but it pretty much gives you most of the day to yourself. If you’re unfamiliar with Toy Story, it’s a cult classic Pixar movie about toys that come to life. The original story follows a cowboy doll named “Woody” who becomes jealous when his owner, Andy, becomes infatuated with a new spaceman toy named “Buzz.” Toy Story is a wonderful series and is highly recommended for anyone who loves animation.
Parent Trap
This silly and fun movie follows identical twins who were separated at a young age as a result of their parent’s divorce. The girls, who now live separate lives, end up going to the same summer camp. They meet there and discover the truth about themselves. Hijinks and hilarity ensue after they decide to switch places. Parent Trap is a delightful, yet somewhat more edgy, version of the original 1961 film. Lindsay Lohan stars.

E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial
Dive into the world of sci-fi with this instant classic. The film follows a lost alien, dubbed E.T, who comes by a young boy. The young boy and his family must find a way to help E.T. return home while avoiding the government. This film contains a lot of heart and love. E.T. is usually referred to as one of director Steven Spielberg’s greatest films. In fact, many consider this movie to be a masterpiece.
