There comes a time in everyone’s life where moving on from your current vehicle becomes necessary. There’s a number of reasons why this can happen, but the one common solution is to trade it in before you purchase a new one. This process is fairly simple and straightforward, but there are a few things you can do to really get the best value. Try these quick improvements to get the most bang for your buck!
Clean the Outside
You might be thinking “duh!” but surprisingly, not everyone knows this. A good old-fashioned car wash alone is not enough, you’ll need to detail and wax your car as well. It should really sparkle when you drive it up to the dealership. Other things you can do to bump up the value are to polish your tires and wipe down each window of the car — on both sides.
And the Inside
Now that the outside is good and scrubbed down, it’s time to do the same to the inside. Clean out every crevice of your car, from the cupholders to the glovebox. Next, vacuum and shampoo your carpets and wipe down the doors and any surfaces inside. If it’s needed, touch up any paint or apply leather cleaner, and leave important documents such as maintenance records inside the car. (Just be sure to take anything with your contact info on it).
Check the Windshield
Instead of having points subtracted for a cracked windshield, see if your insurance will fix it for you. This can be done pretty quickly and simply, and will drastically change the state of your car for almost no hassle.
And the Wipers
Another quick and easy upgrade is to change out your windshield wiper blades. Nothing crazy, just a simple, basic pair is fine. This is also a good time to refill your wiper fluid. Appraisors will turn on your wipers to see both elements, so it’s best to fix them quickly ahead of time.
