Card games are the ultimate way to bring your family together and have some fun. Here are a few kid-friendly card games the little ones and adults alike will enjoy!

Go Fish

Aged 7 years old and up, Go Fish can be played with two or more people with a standard deck of cards. If there are two or three players, each player is dealt seven cards. Once you get your card you will sort the cards into groups of the same number or suit. Make sure not to show anyone! The “requester” will start the game by asking if anyone has any cards matching theirs. If none of the players have the cards the requester wants, the player can tell the requester to “Go fish”. They will then take a card from the “fish pond” and the player to call “go fish” is the new requester. The winner is the first person to have no cards left and only sets.

Crazy Eights

For ages 5 and above, this wild card game can be played with two to four people and with a standard deck of cards. In a two-player game, each person is dealt with seven cards. In a game with three or four players, each will get five cards. The rest of the cards will stay face down in a pile. The top card will be turned up beside it, being the discard pile.  The player to the left of the dealer will find a card from their pile that matches the card in the discard pile. If there are no matching cards, you will have to keep picking cards from the deck until there is one that is playable. Eights can be played on any card, hence the name crazy eights. If you use an eight to match a card, the next player will have to match their card to the number or suit under the eight. The first player to use all of their cards wins!

War

Kids from six and up will love this game. You only need two players and a deck of standard cards to play. All of the cards are given to the two players and must be kept down. You can’t see what cards you have gotten. At the same time, the players will take their top cards and turn them over and out them on the center of the table. Whoever has the highest-ranking card takes it and adds it to the bottom of their card pile. This will keep happening until the same cards are put down. Now it’s time for war. Each player will take two new cards and place one face down on the card they placed in the middle and one face up. The highest-ranking card wins all six. Whoever collects all the cards wins!

Card games are a great way to pass the time with your family and friends. If you have any card lovers in your home, they will be so glad you are up to play cards.
