Autumn maple tree leaves full frame colorful fall arrangement

Ah, fall is here. There is so much to enjoy about this season. For some, there is football and tailgating. For others, it is baking delicious goodies. Some people enjoy preparing for the holidays as autumn approaches. While others, simply love the falling leaves. As the leaves change from bright green to vivid hues of orange, yellow, and red, it is easy to want to keep those leaves around a little longer before they turn brown or simply leave the trees bare for the winter season.

For those who love fall leaves, here is the perfect table centerpiece that will capture the beauty of fall leaves a little longer for you to enjoy.

Materials Needed for the Project

  • Faux fall leaves or Natural fall leaves from outside
  • A spool of fishing line
  • Scissors
  • Glue gun and hot glue sticks
  • Measuring tape
  • Painter’s tape
  • Wax paper

Leaves For the Project

You can use either faux fall leaves or leaves that you find outside. There may be a certain maple or oak in your neighborhood, whose leaves you’d love to use. The choice is up to you. Note, that using real leaves could potentially get messy, both when you are making the project and in the long run as you leave the centerpiece arrangement hanging above your table. It may be a good rule of thumb to go ahead and use faux leaves. You will want a variety of leaf sizes for this project. Make sure to gather the leaves in piles by size.

Instructions

After you have gathered together all the supplies, you will take the wax paper and stretch it from the bottom of your chandelier to the top of your table, you will cut a piece of the wax paper. Then you will lay it down. You will then take the fishing line. Be sure to roll out the fishing line out, so that it is six to eight inches longer than the wax paper.

Using the painter’s tape, you will adhere the fishing line to the wax paper. Once the fishing line is taped down, you will make sure your hot glue gun is on and warmed up. Then taking the leaves from largest to smallest, you will hot glue them to the fishing line. The leaves will be faced down and slid under the fishing line and then glued down.

Be sure to leave space as you go down the line with the leaves to make beautifully, spaced streamers. Once you have made as many streamers as you desire, you will wait for the glue to dry, then remove the fishing line from the paper. Those extra inches of fishing line that went passed the wax paper will give you enough to tie the streamers onto your chandelier. And that’s it! You now have a beautiful, fall arrangement for your dining room.
