Hiking and Biking Galore

If you want to stretch your legs, put on some hiking shoes or load up your bike. If hiking is your thing, you can take off on one of the park’s 17 trails that span over 30 miles. You can take an easy hike on the Old Farm Trails or Old Wagon Trail or ramp up the intensity on the Deer Run Trail or the Lost Road Trail. There are trails for all difficulty levels, so you can go for a stroll or push yourself.

If biking is more your speed, you can pedal along eight miles of trails. The Old Farm Trails are the easiest option and a great place to get your bearings. If you’re an experienced cyclist, be sure to try the Trout Lily Trail. The Appalachian Mountain Bike Club developed this trail, and it will test your limits. There are also multiple other trails for you to try.

Reel in Some Fish

If you have a valid Tennessee fishing license, you can drop your line in the 30,000-acre Cherokee Lake. You don’t even have to leave the shore to catch some huge fish here. Rock fishing is very popular, with many people catching 30 pounders. Whether you fish from boat or shore, you can go after bream, catfish, crappie, bass, and more. The lake is full of fish year-round, and you can reel in one after another.

Go Boating

Do you have a boat? If so, bring it with you to Panther Creek State Park. You can use the boat launch to get in the water. Don’t worry if you don’t have a boat, though. You can head to one of the nearby marinas to rent one. Then you can take off on Cherokee Lake.
